"Spiritual Intuitive", "Psychic", and "Medium"
What do these words mean to you? Many people have various meanings attached to them. I believe the various meanings come from the knowledge they have on the topics, what they have read or haven't read, heard and haven't heard. Some people will only read from the Bible and therefore, have no other references or meanings to attach to the words. Many people are interpreting the Bible to mean so many different things as we evolve on the earthly plane. This is not to exclude the Bible, but there are other sources of information.
I am not here to convince you that you are not right, but just to give a different definition to what you may be thinking. Please join me with an open mind as you read this blog.
Your psychic ability has been with you since the day you were born, or perhaps even for centuries before you were born. Everyone enters into the world with an innate ability to sense information that seems to come from outside, or beyond, themselves.
Maybe one of the following has happened to you in one degree or another. Each is an example of a psychic phenomenon:
- You anticipate that the phone is going to ring - and you even know who is on the other end before picking up the receiver (and all this without the help of the Caller ID).
- You constantly find yourself in the right place at the right time. For example, the person sitting next to you in the jury pool happens to be a piano teacher - and you just inherited a new piano!
- You buy a gift for a friend, only to discover that your friend has been looking for that item unsuccessfully for quite a while and had not told you or anyone else about it.
- You may dream about a place you've never been to before and discover, upon visiting it, that it looks just like you dreamed it.
- You're teamed up with a new business associate with whom you feel instantly comfortable. Before the end of your first meeting, you are finishing each other's sentences.
Perhaps the vocabulary of psychic intuition is another thing that makes accepting and discussing "psychic stuff" seem so scary and intimidating. You will be seeing and reading different words such as clairsentience, ESP, psychometry, psychokinesis, remote viewing, channeling, precognition, the paranormal and more. Don't worry about what they mean right now. Just remember the range of the words used to psychic phenomena is as varied as psychic experiences themselves. The study of psychic phenomenon is called parapsychology.
Being psychic means many different things to many different people. It's a word that has been around the block a time or two, so it's carrying a bit of extra baggage. For one thing, psychic can refer either to the ability to transcend concrete knowledge or to a person who has this ability. Some people view the word "psychic" from a rather superstitious angle, giving added negative or, sometimes even evil, connotation. It is not unusual for people to fear something that has no rational explanation.
When you're "being psychic", you're accessing knowledge without understanding how or why that knowledge is given to you. You just know it! Being psychic is about trust - trusting that your source of information is more powerful than your own imagination, and trusting that it's there for your greatest good.
One reason why psychic experiences are hard to describe is because they occur in a non-physical realm, which means they aren't concrete. You can't touch them, feel them, or take them home to show mother. It can be very difficult to prove them. Here the key lesson to learn is to have faith - not necessarily in a Higher Power - but in yourself. The foundation of improving your psychic power is trusting in yourself. As the saying goes "Trust your intuition."
In fact, I believe the words "psychic" and "intuition" are interchangeable. In my practice, I refer to myself as a Spiritual Intuitive as well as a Psychic/Medium. The word intuitive adds a whole new light on being psychic, since it focuses on discerning truth through a direct unexplained source of knowledge as compared to receiving information from a supernatural force. "Intuitive" suggests the information sent or received finds its origin inside one's self. So, if you work on developing your ability to think and feel intuitively, you're being psychic!
